Capital Funding Initiatives

In 2007, based on the recommendations of the Alberta Affordable Housing Task Force, the provincial government committed to support the development of 11,000 affordable housing units by 2012. In September 2011, the Alberta government achieved and exceeded this goal ahead of its timeline. Learn more about this housing milestone and the progress on building a better Alberta through housing for Albertans in-need.

We continueto close the gap in demand for housing by investing wisely with partners, and each year more and more housing for Albertans in-need comes on stream providing a better quality of life for thousands of Albertans—including seniors, families, individuals and people with special needs.

HUA monitors projects and ensure compliance with grant conditions, including verification that each approved project has been completed and remains affordable as specified in the agreement.
