Housing Capital Initiatives 2011/2012
Affordable housing continues to be a top priority for the Government of Alberta. The government is committed to supporting the development of housing units for those Albertans who are most-in-need thought its capital grants funding.
The 2011/2012 program will help to increase the overall number of units for lower-income individuals and families across the province, including seniors who are functionally independent, persons with special needs, and those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, such as those fleeing domestic violence.
Eligible organizations interested in partnering with Housing and Urban Affairs under this grant program were encouraged to submit their proposals by July 8, 2011. Fifteen projects are currently being supported by 2011/2012 grant funding. These projects have helped the province to achieve its target of 11,000 affordable housing units by 2012.
