Province partners with the Hope Mission to build new homes for the homeless
On January 7, 2010, Minister Fritz announced funding for the Hope Mission for the construction of 52 units for chronically homeless people. Minister Fritz also had the opportunity to meet with Kelvin Wright and Stewart Young, two of Hope Mission's staff members and former program participants.

The Release of A Plan for Alberta: Ending Homelessness in 10 YearsOn March 16, 2009, The Government of Alberta approved an ambitious 10-year plan aimed at ending homelessness in Alberta by 2019. The plan, developed by the Alberta Secretariat for Action on Homelessness, identifies specific actions to support the creation of permanent, safe housing for the homeless and outlines the associated services needed to break the cycle of homelessness.
Province Provides $7 million for Affordable Housing in Calgary
On January 23, 2009, Premier Stelmach and Minister Fritz announced funding for the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre Society’s Sun Dial housing development. It will feature 81 one-bedroom and 38 two-bedroom units of which 8 will be barrier free and wheelchair accessible.
